This contract was awarded jointly by F.I.M.E.T. S.p.A. of Brescia and by the Consorzio Cooperative Costruzioni of Bologna, which entrusted the works under its responsibility, as group leader, to the consortium member CPL CONCORDIA.
There were several complexities: having to lay 12 km of pipes within the airport area, it was necessary to proceed by demolishing the floor of the tunnels at the airport apron, the shunting junctions where there is the sorting of planes and the take-off and landing runway.
The work involved the connection of the utilities of Terminal 2, the existing gas turbine thermal power plant of Terminal 1. The gas turbine thermal power plant with cogeneration will have to serve the entire airport area.
CPL CONCORDIA has also completely redone all the mechanical, electrical and supervision systems with remote control at the airport’s operations centre , including the civil works. All civil works have been designed, built and tested according to ENAC directives which require a static and tightness check equal to the weight of an aircraft.
