SEA and the companies in the Group manage the airports of Milan Linate and Milan Malpensa, guaranteeing all services and related activities.
This contract was awarded to a temporary association of companies (ATI) led by F.I.M.E.T. S.p.A. of Brescia and Consorzio Cooperative Costruzioni of Bologna, which as parent company assigned the work falling within its remit to the consortium member CPL CONCORDIA.
Different issues needed to be dealt with: having to lay 12 km of pipe inside the airport area, it was necessary to demolish the flooring of the ducts at the airport, the manoeuvring space where the aircraft are routed and the runway.
The work involved connecting the systems of Terminal 2, of the existing turbo-gas central heating plant in Terminal 1. The turbo-gas central heating plant with co-generation will serve the entire airport area.
Furthermore, CPL CONCORDIA completely upgraded all the mechanical, electrical and monitoring systems with remote monitoring of the airport operations centre, including civil works. All civil works were designed, built and tested according to ENAC directives that require a check of stability and durability under the weight of an aircraft.
