An odorization system is provided in the systems feeding gas distribution networks, the purpose of which is to inject into the gas an amount of odorizing liquid proportional to the amount of gas transited. Therefore, odorization systems are indispensable for distribution companies.

The lambing odorization system bases its operation by taking advantage of the reduced vapor pressure of the odorizing liquid. By introducing a controlled restriction on the main gas flow, a reduced gas flow laps the surface of the odorizing liquid contained in the reservoir, dragging some molecules of the liquid downstream.
The system consists of a tank of variable capacity equipped with two connections that have the function connection with the main gas line (one inlet and one outlet), two connections For refilling the odorizing substance (one for liquid filling and one for venting), two connections for the level, a connection For tank drainage, the provision for the installation of the injection system, an armored steel level (reflection or magnetic) and a holding tank (optional).
All parts of the plant are made of materials resistant to the chemical action of odorizer: carbon steel for tetrahydrothiophene-based odorizer and stainless steel for mercaptan-based odorizer.
The seals are made of PTFE.
Building on his experience in the field of odorization, CPL CONCORDIA assembles plants with equipment and accessories useful for the management of the plant itself. Each reservoir is equipped with a needle valve with micrometric opening indicator, the level is provided with special engraved scale for detecting the remaining amount, each connection is provided with Shut-off valves to facilitate tank maintenance. The support frame is sized to support the tank’s own weight with the liquid inside, the eventual housing of the holding tank is realized through an optional support.
The injection odorization system is specifically designed to guarantee a constant odorization rate depending on the gas flow rate, the type of odorizer used, and the required odorization rate.
The lack of accuracy of the lambing system, due to the daily variations in pressure and flow rate of natural gas flowing through the flow meter and variations in the level of odorizer in the tank, are obviated by the operating principle of the system
The control unit receives the delivered gas measurement and decides the amount of odorizer to be injected according to the programming parameters which translate into the number of pulses to be sent to the metering pump to ensure the programmed odorization rate
The system is easy to calibrate and adjust, and set-up operations for operation are simple and intuitive and fully guided by interactive software menus
System security. All components are sized to withstand the maximum service pressure of the system
Continuity of service. In case of injection system failure, the control unit automatically switches to the lambing system or possibly to the second pump in stand-by mode (optional)
The task of the control unit is to control the metering pump according to the amount of gas flowing through the meter in order to keep the odorizer rate in the network constant at the programmed value. It is also capable of recording alarms and logged data in the internal database, which can be read with the special EASYDOR CENTRAL software.
The equipment can be interrogated in the field or remotely.
Also available is the printing unit (optional), which, by connecting to the control unit, generates a paper document on which hourly, daily and monthly data are recorded.
The measurement of gas to be odorized can be received from fiscal correctors with 4/20 mA analog or pulse signal, or directly from field sensors such as meters or DELTA Þ transmitters.
