The advantages

Monitoring systems allow for better management of activities by highlighting and anticipating the onset of problems; in addition, telecontrol systems allow for timely management of the integrated water service, with obvious energy savings in relation to the volumes managed.

Some typical examples of monitoring and telecontrol are:

the control of operating pressures according to the flow rates to be supplied to limit wasted electricity;
monitoring the efficiency of electric motors of pumps can highlight problems of equipment age/efficiency and suggest maintenance/replacement activities at the ideal time;
the verification of water leakage through the introduction of electronic measuring systems, process meters, in water distribution network branches and utility meters;
in sewage treatment, too, the introduction of level sensors makes it possible to monitor the condition of sewage pipes, detecting in good time any abnormal increases in levels due to rainfall or illegal discharges or checking for blockages;
analysis of sewage levels to anticipate the occurrence of possible problems at sewage treatment plants, such as excess oily substances that could impair the efficiency of biological oxidation apparatus;
theanalysis of sewage levels can be useful to activate flood dischargers only in ideal moments, with the aim then of reducing damage to sewage treatment plants or on the contrary to avoid overuse of dischargers even when the sewage plant and treatment systems could safely handle the effluent.
