Fresenius Kabi, relying on CPL CONCORDIA, has decided to pursue the goal of improving energy efficiency. The plant’s annual energy requirements are 13,057 MWh of electricity and 17,500 MWh of thermal energy in the form of hot water and steam.

CPL CONCORDIA, in addition to having designed a trigeneration plant to serve the production plant in Isola della Scala (Verona), has planned plant revamping interventions including:

• Trigeneration plant with an electrical power of 1.4 MWe, thermal power of 1.544 MWt and refrigeration of 1.035 MWf, to support production cycles
• Technological upgrading of the process water preheating system
• Replacing hot water storage tanks
• Replacing the hot water absorption cooling unit
• Replacement of thermoregulation/supervision systems for technological systems

The revamping carried out at Fresenius Kabi will result in a significant improvement in terms of energy efficiency in energy distribution, with high energy conversion indexes.
The primary energy savings with plant revamping interventions is equal to 6.5%, thus contributing to an overall saving of primary energy (with trigeneration) of 25.5%.
