The CUS, University Sports Center of Rome, organizes activities in various sports facilities located in the city. The Campuses managed by CUS Roma are considered among the most complete and prestigious in Europe.

CPL CONCORDIA has built a cogeneration plant with a capacity of 60 kW electric and 120 kW thermal, fuelled by a methane-hydrogen mixture.

• It will be an energy supply system, developed as part of the ‘joint lab’ program of Sapienza Innovazione funded by the Lazio Region, which will have the characteristics of a real plant-laboratory.
  The electricity will almost entirely meet the demand of the sports center, while the thermal energy will be used, together with that of the thermal plant, for the production of hot water, for thermal ventilation and for maintaining the water temperature of the indoor pool. This will allow for energy savings of 25%.

• The revolution lies in feeding the cogenerator with a mixture enriched with hydrogen (hydromethane) with a modular composition (in the range 0 – 10% by volume) with a reduction in emissions into the atmosphere between 15% and 20%. Hydrogen will be obtained through photo-electrolysis of water using an electrolyser. The power supply for the operation of the electrolyser is produced by a system of photovoltaic panels. This plant-laboratory of La Sapienza University, in addition to allowing a reduction in energy bills, is able to analyze engine performance, greenhouse gas emissions, and then provide technical specifications for the large-scale implementation of turn-key systems.
