Inside the cabin, the gas is filtered (i.e. cleaned) by a double-line filtering unit with a nominal diameter of DN 300 and measured through traditional G4000 turbine meters that verify the amount of incoming gas (about 81,000 Stm3/h). The cabin, consisting of 8 rooms, is designed to receive gas from the transportation network owned by Snam Rete Gas at a variable pressure between 12 and 70 bar. Six large gearboxes with a nominal diameter of DN 150 (three service and three emergency) form the heart of the system, i.e. the pressure reducing equipment. Downstream of the gearboxes , a pneumatic system was applied to control the pressure and output flow rate of each line. As a result of the strong pressure reduction (65 bar), the methane gas is cooled by more than 26°C and it is therefore necessary to heat it to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment. The hot water preheating system consists of 12 boilers with a 2700 kW atmospheric burner. The odorization system consists of two interconnected 265-litre tanks (one for storage and the other for service) and an automatic electronic injection system patented by CPL CONCORDIA. Two emergency equipment completes the equipment of the cabin: a diesel generator ensures the continuous operation of the system and an uninterruptible power supply supplies the electronic equipment.
