CIR Food

CIR Food (Cooperativa Italiana di Ristorazione), an Italian Foodservice Cooperative, was founded in 1992 as a foodservice company with the merger of three cooperatives that had been active since the early 1970s. With over 40 years’ experience in the direct management of canteens and cooking centres, CIR Food offers large-scale foodservice, catering service and meal vouchers. The company operates in 15 Italian regions producing over 76 million meals a year, earning about 500 million euros in turnover, with a workforce of 11,000 people.

The annual energy needs of the CIR Food building are equal to 890 MWh of electricity and 490 MWh of thermal energy in the form of hot water.

The energy diagnosis identified the following energy efficiency measures:

It is an analysis that allows dynamically mapping the company’s energy use. The aspects related to seasonality and/or the variability of production were the subject of an in-depth analysis directly with the customer. The output of the analysis carried out by certified EGEs allowed assessing in advance the possible gains deriving from the savings in the energy bill and the EECs (energy efficiency certificates).

The energy diagnosis aims to contribute to the development and growth of the culture of alternative energy, spreading its ideological and ethical values, to make its most advanced technologies available and to maximise their benefits in order to achieve significant energy savings while at the same time reducing environmental impact.
From a financial point of view, the energy renovation of the plant has allowed significant primary energy savings of 10%.
