The five-year contract also includes the Pitti Palace, the Boboli Gardens and the Vasari Corridor
A global maintenance service contract was signed a few days ago that will see CPL CONCORDIA, a multi-service energy company, take care of the integrated, managerial and operational services of the maintenance of the systems in the museums and buildings belonging to the Uffizi Galleries in Florence.
The Gallery is one of the most famous museums in the world for its extraordinary collections of ancient sculptures and paintings from the Middle Ages to the modern age: just remember the names of Giotto, Piero della Francesca, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, as well as masterpieces of international painting. The award of the European tender to CPL includes the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, fire-fighting, elevators, telephony, radio links, and buildings owned by the Tunnels.
Specifically, the structures involved in the management also concern other famous sites: Pitti Palace, a symbol of the Medici’s consolidated power over Tuscany and now home to four different museums, the Boboli Gardens, a veritable open-air museum populated with ancient and Renaissance statues, and the Vasari Complex with the famous Corridor.
“The award of the Uffizi to CPL fills us with pride for the possibility of contributing as an Italian company to the enjoyment of masterpieces of art and architecture”, underlined the President of CPL CONCORDIA Paolo Barbieri. “For over 60 years, our company has been active in Tuscany in the energy, water and gas networks, and this prestigious assignment is in addition to other contracts such as the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino, the hospitals of Arezzo and Versilia, the trigeneration in the Galilei Airport in Pisa“.
The management began on 1 July and will involve CPL staff for the next 5 years with an option to renew for another two years, and the option to extend the contract for a further year is expected to be activated.
