A new lighting system was designed, built and donated to the Municipality of Ravenna on the occasion of the beginning of the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet, in the presence of the President of the Republic Mattarella
8 September 2020 – The national celebrations of the seven hundredth anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death officially opened on Saturday 5 September in Ravenna in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, who visited the poet's tomb, manned for the occasion by two cuirassiers placed at the entrance, and admired the restoration of the complex architectural. The new lighting system for the night-time enhancement of the monument, with low environmental impact and energy saving, was created and donated by CPL CONCORDIA, which manages the global service of the city's lighting systems.
The technical solutions adopted are noteworthy, guaranteeing high performance in terms of energy consumption, efficiency and durability of the light sources and ease in the management of the systems and their maintenance. "Overall, the intervention was carried out with the use of 61 LED luminaires and has made it possible to reduce energy consumption by almost 80%", proudly underlined the President of CPL CONCORDIA Paolo Barbieri.
The intervention involved the entire Dante area, which includes, in addition to the Tomb of Alighieri, the adjacent garden with the Quadrarco di Braccioforte, the complex of the Basilica of San Francesco and the square in front of it that houses the Palazzo della Provincia.
The new lighting system has been entirely designed and built by Concordia's multi-service company, currently the concessionaire of the Global Service for the management of public lighting systems, traffic lights and technology of the Municipality of Ravenna: there are almost 37 thousand lighting points that also include the lighting of the Port of Ravenna and the municipal beaches.
"The new lighting system offers state-of-the-art solutions, with low environmental impact, aimed at enhancing the monuments inserted in the context at night," explained CPL's Fano Area Manager Luca Marchegiani and the Project Manager for Ravenna Public Lighting Matteo Montesi. "Particular attention has been paid to the positioning of the lighting fixtures, including professional projectors equipped with special optical systems differentiated according to the beam angle and with special anti-glare screens and refractive filters, and warm white light spotlights."
