Monitoring and remote control of plants

The telenet application was created with the objective of replacing the functions of the remote control system normally installed at the customer's site, acting in two ways:

  • Monitoring and remote control of plants with remote control software that is "transparent" to user
  • Using a scripting language (ASP) to permit the “browser-client” to access data and functions that the remote control software makes available on the server.

In this way users can not only see the data for the state of plants, measurements, and alarms in table format, but can also send check requests in order to update the database displayed at the time of access by the browser. This database, resident at the TDS Centre, might in fact only have been updated on the last check request from the “communicator” and so might not be aligned with the state of the system at the time of connection by the user.

All this is carried out in a few simple operations using the interface provided on the web pages of the telnet application, easy for any class of Internet user

  • the program for the on-call personnel can be defined (A)
  • the alarm thresholds can be set (B)

As regards the elaboration of data displayed at the website, a download is available for the collection of sample measurements and "states" of the system under examination. Once complete the download can be analyzed in the following ways:

  • graphically
  • in an “Excel” spreadsheet
  • in “Word” format

In this way the user has a detailed analysis available for forecast and quality statistics.
