CPL Concordia made operational 63 km of medium-and low-pressure gas supply networks to serve more than 30,000 residents and companies in S.Giuseppe Vesuviano, near Naples.
CPL Concordia made operational 63 km of medium-and low-pressure gas supply networks, including over 1,600 hookups (both overhead and underground connections) to serve more than 30,000 residents and companies. It is noteworthy that CPL acquired the management contract at the end of July 2006 and just one week later received the report from SNAM Rete Gas that the network had begun operations. The network, which was built by another company and terminated in 2001 after numerous disputes, had never before been placed in service.
The methane gas required by the city of San Giuseppe Vesuviano is supplied from a first-step pressure reduction station located in the city of San Giuseppe Vesuviano at the city limits with the city of San Gennaro Vesuviano, which is supplied from a SNAM methane gas pipeline at a pressure of 24 bar. The transport network connects the aforesaid first-step pressure reduction station with the city of San Giuseppe Vesuviano; the medium-pressure transport network supplies the five G.R.F. – second-step pressure reduction stations, which in turn supply a pressure that is regulated at 0.02 bar for the gas supply network in the population center. CPL Concordia sells methane gas to San Giuseppe Vesuviano through its subsidiary company CoopGas. There are currently 1200 active customers. To manage the service and to maintain contact with the end customers, an office staffed with CPL Concordia personnel was opened in the city center. Also, a team was equipped to manage the emergency service; they can be contacted 24 hours a day by means of a dedicated toll-free number.
A great deal of attention has been paid to safety with regard to internal controls (detection of gas leaks in the networks and odorization of the methane gas) and external monitoring (fire departments, UTIF, etc.). The responsibility for verifying and testing the system has been assumed by CPL Concordia, which uses rigorous procedures and the extensive deployment of manpower and technology. Every segment of the network, the seal of the pipelines, and the safe operation of the gas measurement and pressure reduction systems have been checked. CPL has also developed courses for installers to promote methane gas technology and safety regarding the use of methane gas.
The methane gas and LPG supply service includes all activities in connection with network maintenance, construction of hookups, installation of meters at the point of consumption, and the management of the systems’ safety. CPL Concordia manages methane gas and LPG networks for more than 460,000 consumers in various areas in northern and southern Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, and Romania.
